John Stezaker
Hannah Hoch
Johan Rosenmunthe
- John Stezaker was born in England in 1949.
- He is mainly a conceptual artist.
- John Stezaker attended the Slade School of Art in London.
- Graduating with a Higher Diploma in Fine Art in 1973.
- He was among the first of British conceptual artists to produce work against what was then the predominance of Pop art.
- I really like the use of multiply imagery in John Stezaker's work. I think the second image is really effective, on the image below, because the rocks are mimicking the silhouette's of the peoples faces. I believe this is a really unique and interesting way to create a new and different image.
- The second image, I think, is very interesting because it combines two similar images of one woman but with a different facial expression. John Stezaker has not fitted the images exactly together which I like because it creates different shapes and distorts her face even more.
Hannah Hoch
- Hannah Hoch was born in Gotha and study art in Berlin.
- She was a German Dada artist.
- She is best known for her work of the Weimar period, when she was one of the originators of photomontage.
- She attended Berlin College of Arts and Crafts
- The collages below all create depth because of the arrangement of the different images. The images used in her collages work together to create new and interesting forms using line and shape.
- Most of Hannah Hoch's work uses very minimal colours. They mainly use about 2 or 3 main colours.
Johan Rosenmunthe
- Johan Rosenmunthe took old photos and went back to the place were it was taken and placed the people in the new envoment.
- Most of his work includes rearranging or distorting images.
- The image below I really like because the contrast between the black and white image of the people and the coloured image of the background. This highlights to the viewer that the two images are from two different time periods and that Johan Rosenmunthe has combined the two.
- This image highlights the change in the landscape over the years.
- The use of the shadows in the image makes the image more realistic to the viewer and shows that the only part of the image that suggest its two separate images is the use of the black and white.
