Shoot 1

Deciding to do a shoot so early on wasn't my intention in this final project but I am finding it hard to stick with the ideas I have. I think doing a shoot will help me get ideas flowing and it will help me start to concentrate more on the research side of  this project which will help with the material for further shoots. I'm going to go to the forest with some magnifying lenses and shoot though them. I hope that the lenses distort the image but it can still be recognized as part of nature.
I hope I get some good ideas from doing this shoot and that I produces a good collection of starting images.

Equipment needed:
Camera
Magnifying lenses

I am really happy with the outcome of this shoot. I do feel I jumped ahead of myself cropping the images but I feel that the crop adds something to the images. I cropped them like that because the lenses I used to get the images above were circular so I thought the crop would be a good indication of this. Using the magnifying glasses, I did find that it was very much a trail and error process because different parts of the lenses created different effects. This shoot has given me a base to work from and i'm really happy that I choice to do a shoot early.

When editing I didn't change much just the contract, levels and curves however I did find that I didn't like aspects of most of the images so I wanted to crop them. I thought about just leaving them because it is just an initial shoot but I wanted to just go with the idea of the circle crop to indicate the magnifying lens. I have used this crop before in the pathway stage but I feel that the crop enhances the image in a different way then before.

Overall I am happy with the outcome of this shoot because it has given be more of a wider range of ideas to develop in later shoots.

This image is the most abstract image that I edited. I really like the blend of tones and colours and I feel that the viewer can still get the nature side of this image. The magnifying lens blurred the colours into each-other which I feel created abstract blend of colours which works well in a circle.
When editing I enhances the saturation slightly and changed the contrast but also this was a crop from a corner of an image.

This image I feel only works because of the shape of the crop. I feel its still shows abstraction but not as obvious as the image above. The lens magnified the bottom right part of the blossom and this creates depth of field with the background. The colour in the background is not associated with nature but with the in-focus part of the image it shows nature.
When editing increased the contrast a little and cropped the most effective part of the image, in my opinion.

Next I want to use the magnifying lens again to try and experiment more.
